Best après-ski there is
Energetic, sweaty, loud or mellow and cosy. Dive into Åre’s après scene and find your favorite.
In the ski town that literarily imported après-ski to Sweden there is always a good party to find. We’ve even heard of people renting ski boots solely to appear at the après-ski in style. Since not all après lift the roof we’ve put together a list of places to explore.
In one of the oldest buildings in Åre, you’ll find the largest après-ski. It quickly turns crazy wild with live bands, energetic ambiance and a sound level that offers no room for small talk. At the peaks of high season this place has the longest line before opening the doors. No one wants to miss out on a really good après ski right in the middle of the village. Come spring the party spills over to the adjacent veranda.
Ok. This is a world champion après-ski with ski-in ski-out location. Live band, dancing on the table and a party level so high it brings the roof lamps in motion. If you are a true après ski enthusiast you’ve entered your heaven. And the world champion title is not just for fun – Fjällgården has hosted several Après-ski World Championships.
At the end of the slope Stjärnbacken this slope restaurant transform into an après-ski party zone in the afternoon. Live band on stage, busy bar and lively ambiance.
Just above the village, at the valley station of the chair lift VM6 one of the craziest exuberant après-skis take place. Champagne corks fly, the glitter glimmer and it all turns a bit misty. But note – this is not an every day après ski place so you need to look out for its happenings.
Right by the square in Åre this sophisticated bar offers a party play list and really tasty drinks. Perfect for a short stop between a day’s skiing and upcoming activities. It might very well be that you hang around for dinner and an all-nighter since it is such an enjoyable place.
# Copperhill Mountain Lodge
Time to relax in a big and cosy sofa. Enjoy soft live piano music in Fireside at this design hotel on top of the hill. This is no place for dancing on tables or throw beer glasses over your shoulder. This is the place for really good talks, good drinks and well deserved relaxation after a long day in the slopes.
# Hotell Åregården
A well sorted bar in the foajé of one of Åre’s oldest hotels. This is the place to enjoy some vin chaud, hot chocolate, a cold beer or a drink in tranquility. Rarely busy at the bar and no need to scream your conversation. Very nice.
