The Cross-Country elite takes over the Swedish Alpine National Arena!
In February 2019, the World’s best alpine skiers competed for the World Championships medals at the Swedish Alpine National Arena. exactly one year later, the elite of cross-country skiing will take over as Ski Tour 2020 enters the same arena.
In February the Swedish and Norwegian National Ski Associations will launch a brand new ski tour. It is part of the FIS Cross-Country World Cup in 2020 and will take place in five different arenas in Sweden and Norway, starting in Östersund.
The official opening kicks off on February 14 at 19.00 CET at Stortorget in central Östersund. The opening ceremony is followed by two days of racing at Östersunds skidstadion, regular Biathlon World Cup arena and host of the 2019 Biathlon World Championhips.
After Östersund, the athletes take the train to Åre for a challenging sprint in the 2019 World Championship arena. The sprint starts in the Finish Area and continues uphill where the gradient tops out at over 30 degrees. Ski Tour 2020 then continues to Storlien where the athletes will participate in a 38 kilometer mass start race which will finish in Meråker on the Norwegian side of the border. It will be the first time
ever that a World Cup race cross international borders. Finally, the tour will finish with two days of racing and finals at Granåsen Skisenter in Trondheim.
