Mountain birch forests are great protection from wind and rain so head for trails at lower altitudes where you\u2019ll not only be sheltered from the weather but also find pretty forest areas you might not experience otherwise. We recommend wearing a cap, thin mittens and proper terrain shoes to tackle theses forest trails. Enjoy! <\/strong><br><br><strong>Please note:<\/strong> The trails are laid with boardwalks on wetlands and other mounds that have a tendency to be wet. These are convenient for runners but also protect the ground from wear and tear. Stick to the boardwalks as best as you can and avoid running on wet trails (for example, after a rainfall). It\u2019s also common to see reindeer on and around the trails. Please keep your distance, avoid disturbance and, if possible, choose a different route. Begin your run at the funicular (Bergbanan) mountain station by Fj\u00e4llg\u00e5rden and continue through the forests on the slope of Totthummeln. Circa halfway through, the trail turns and takes you down to \u00c5re Square via a nice village road.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>GETTING THERE <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/aretrails.com\/item\/72ff894a-6a54-495f-bb57-1fbae18b657a\">Trail 219<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tegeforsen<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ELEVATION<\/strong> 20 m | <strong>DISTANCE<\/strong> 6 km<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A run to Tegeforsen makes for a perfect recovery loop for tired legs after plenty of mountain hikes. Start from the village and follow the old \u00c5rev\u00e4gen (paved road), then cross the railway and continue along the lush forest road. After a few kilometres on Sotargr\u00e4nd, you\u2019ll soon hear the rumble of Tegeforsen waterfall. The same route takes you back to \u00c5re village \u2013 a gentle outing with nature\u2019s soundtrack along the way!   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>GETTING THERE <\/strong><a class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Trails to Lill\u00e5dammen and Byxtj\u00e4rn<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>DISTANCE<\/strong> 7 km<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trail 221, which takes you through sheltered woodland towards Lill\u00e5dammen and Byxtj\u00e4rn, is perfect for running even on rainy, windy days. The trail starts at the historic mining site <a href=\"\/en\/see-do\/froa-gruva-a-journey-through-time\/\">Fr\u00f6\u00e5 Gruva<\/a> and, after a few kilometres, splits towards the two tarns. Byxtj\u00e4rn is more sheltered from the wind and weather, while Lill\u00e5dammen is more exposed and features a slightly muddier path. You return to the starting point via the same route. Be sure to recharge your energy with lunch or a fika at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bergstuganfroa.se\/\">Bergstugan<\/a> before heading home.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>GETTING THERE<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/aretrails.com\/item\/c53542c1-6ae5-4b06-b889-94781a23a432\">Trail 221c<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">S\u00f6dra Ridvadsrundan<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>DISTANCE <\/strong>14,7 km<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ridvadsrundan starts in Vallbo (with an alternative starting point at F\u00e5ng\u00e5mon) and takes you through protected forest terrain, making it a great choice for days with unsettled weather. Instead of mountain peaks, the trail offers cosy woodland and a grooved sandy beach by Lake Ottsj\u00f6n \u2014 perfect to return to on a sunnier day. In the middle of Lake Ottsj\u00f6n lies Sweden\u2019s longest natural ford. If the summer day is warm, we recommend trying to walk the full distance across the lake.
