\u00c5reskutan\u2019s top, Fr\u00f6\u00e5 Gruva, Totthummeln and Nalleklippan are some of \u00c5re\u2019s most famous excursion destinations. But there is a whole series of slightly lesser-known places that are also given on the hikes. Here we suggest 9 gorgeous hiking destinations in \u00c5re for you to enjoy. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c5re Trails is a digital map<\/a> guide that helps you find your way \u2013 but if you prefer a paper map, it is available for free in all Skistar shops <\/a>and in many hotel reception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Nalleklippan <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 viewpoint with a fantastic view of the village<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This fantastic view point with an unbeatable view of \u00c5re village and Lake \u00c5re is about 30 minutes\u2019 walk from Fj\u00e4llg\u00e5rden along trail 213.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Totthummeln\u2019s wind shelter <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 near-village excursion destination for the family<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This wind shelter about 1 hour from Fj\u00e4llg\u00e5rden along trail 213 <\/a>has a barbecue area and a view towards \u00c5reskutan. Make the short extra trip up to the top of Tothummeln before the trail heads home \u2013 the view is worth the effort. <\/p>\n\n\n

3. Br\u00e4ckeb\u00e4ckstj\u00e4rnarna wind shelter <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 easy hiking with a real mountain feeling<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

By the two small tarns on the mountain, there is a wind shelter and a barbecue area. Walk about 1.5 hours from \u00c5re square along trail 211<\/a> towards the VM8\u2019s mountain station and further west or take the VM8 up and walk to the wind shelter for about 30 minutes along a gravel road (also works with a pram) with beautiful views. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Skuttj\u00e4rn\u2019s wind shelter <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 beautiful hike on the bare mountain<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The wind shelter with a view of Hus\u00e5, Kallsj\u00f6n, and Skuttj\u00e4rn is located just below V\u00e4sterskutan, approx. 1.5 hours hiking along trail 211 <\/a>starting from Fj\u00e4llg\u00e5rden. Start at Ull\u00e5dalsliften for a shorter ride and follow trail markings on sticks halfway up the ski slope where the trail turns off to the left. On your way back, take a short detour to Buustamons Fj\u00e4llg\u00e5rd<\/a> for coffee and pastries or a hearty lunch. <\/p>\n\n\n

5. Byxtj\u00e4rn <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

popular day trip for big and small hikers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

An easier mountain hike in a lovely mountain environment for about 1 hour along trail 221 <\/a>starting at the Fr\u00f6\u00e5 mine. On warmer days you can swim here. For a longer trip, continue on for about 45 minutes to Lilladammen, a pond with the entire \u00c5reskutan as its fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Fr\u00f6\u00e5tj\u00e4rn <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 easily accessible family outing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After approx. 20 minutes walk on a gravel road from Bj\u00f6rnen along trail 221<\/a>, you will find Fr\u00f6\u00e5tj\u00e4rn with a view of \u00c5reskutan. Here is a barbecue area and the possibility of swimming. This trail is a \u201cShare the trail\u201d on dirt road, which means that e.g. cyclists, horses, walkers, and prams share the road. <\/p>\n\n\n

7. \u00c5reskutan\u00b4s top <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 a goal for all hikers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Climbing \u00c5reskutan\u2019s top 1420 m above sea level is an experience for both young and old. The easiest way up starts at the Gondola and Kabinbanan\u2019s mountain stations and goes along trail 214 <\/a>on a rock face and wide path. It is 2.1 km long, has an ascent of 187 m and takes about 45 minutes to walk. Choose trail 217<\/a> for a steeper but shorter alternative. At the top is Sweden\u2019s highest-located caf\u00e9, Toppstugan<\/a>, which serves waffles and coffee during the lifts\u2019 opening hours. <\/p>\n\n\n

8. M\u00f6rvikshummeln <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 halfway to the top<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Halfway up to the top of \u00c5reskutan is one of the most classic and photo-friendly views over \u00c5redalen and \u00c5resj\u00f6n. To get here there are three different options in different degrees of difficulty; take the lifts all the way up and\/or down, hike from Fj\u00e4llg\u00e5rden via the historic Stj\u00e4rnv\u00e4gen or the steeper trail 214b <\/a>which goes straight up the ski slope. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

9. Fr\u00f6\u00e5 Gruva <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 family-friendly hiking tour<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Easy hike of about 1 hour along trail 221 <\/a>from Bj\u00f6rnen\u2019s trail center up to the old copper mine. This trail is a \u201cShare the trail\u201d on dirt road, which means that e.g. cyclists, horses, walkers, and prams share the road. On-site there are shorter history walks, a barbecue area, and Bergstugan, which serves lunch and coffee. It is also possible to park the car at the mine and walk around the area. <\/p>\n\n\n
