Look up, take it all in, and let every step reveal another unforgettable view. Every hike in \u00c5re has something special to offer, but if spectacular scenery is what you're after, we've rounded up five favorite trails that deliver truly extraordinary mountain views. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Totthummeln around and up<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Elevation gain<\/strong>: 515 m | Length<\/strong>: 3,3 km<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Totthummeln is the small hill on the east side of the village, just above Tott Hotell. The trail offers lush vegetation on the way up. An easy to reach summit with a stunning view both to the east and west. A frequent after work hike for locals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Find it: Take trail 212 Trollstigen<\/a> from \u00c5re Square and rejoin trail 213<\/a> on level with Hotell Fj\u00e4llg\u00e5rden. Hold your left when the trail enters the forest at the foot of the small hill. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Lill\u00e5dammen<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Elevation gain<\/strong>: 290 m | Length<\/strong>: 7 km out and return<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first reward is reached right after you\u2019ve passed the tarn Byxtj\u00e4rn and the small birch forest. Suddenly the landscape opens up in front of you and Mt \u00c5reskutan appears in all its glory. To the right lake Kallsj\u00f6n with surrounding villages an the mountain range Sk\u00e4ckerfj\u00e4llen. Take a pause at the shore of the small lake Lill\u00e5dammen before you head back. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Find it<\/strong>: Start at Fr\u00f6\u00e5 Gruva and follow trail 221.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n

3. Copperhill \u2013 Bj\u00f6rnen<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Drop: 180 m | Length<\/strong>: 2,1 km one way<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is usually a trail recommended to take from Bj\u00f6rnen and climb to Copperhill Mountain Lodge in order to set the hotel and its amazing view as a goal for the hike. But our tip is to reverse the hike (or take it both ways). The most beautiful part is after the first climb from the hotel, at the height just north of it. The trail moves through lush greenery with Mt \u00c5reskutan in sight. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Find it<\/strong>: Take the trail just north of Copperhill Mountain Lodge. Follow trail 222<\/a> to Bj\u00f6rnen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. The summit of Mt \u00c5reskutan<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Climb<\/strong>: 146 m (or 1000 m) | Length<\/strong>: 2 km (or 5 km) one way<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The easiest way to reach the top of Mt \u00c5reskutan is to hike from the mountain station of the cable car<\/a>. The toughest way ist to follow the Vertical K-trail. There are also two less tough (but longer) trails to choose, one at 8,1 km (trail 214<\/a>) or 9,1 km (trail 215<\/a> \u2013 the East trail). Make sure to take a coffee and a waffle at Toppstugan<\/a> \u2013 Sweden\u2019s highest situated caf\u00e9. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Find it<\/strong>: Follow trail 214b<\/a> from the cable car and gondola top stations.<\/p>\n\n\n

5. Sulj\u00e4tten<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Elevation gain: 345 m | Distance: 3 km (6 km round trip)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rising almost alone above the shores of Lake Kallsj\u00f6n, Sulj\u00e4tten stands proudly on what locals on the \u00c5re side of the valley like to call the \"back side\" of \u00c5reskutan. Start your hike from the mountain pasture at Lillvallen or from Kon\u00e4s by the lake.
The trail begins through lush, species-rich forest before climbing into open mountain terrain. At the summit, you'll be rewarded with sweeping 360-degree views of the Kall Valley, the Sk\u00e4cker Mountains, and \u00c5reskutan. It's a great hike for families looking for a rewarding challenge\u2014and don't forget to share the legendary tale of Sulj\u00e4tten<\/a> along the way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
