It is both a great form of exercise and a nice way to experience nature in your own pace. Many associate ski touring with remote mountains with no ski lifts but it is increasingly popular to ski tour within the prepared ski area.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below you will find both a number of Ski Touring trails within the ski system and some tips on how to have a great tour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A valid ski pass is required if you wish to use the designated Ski Touring trails.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are touring with a friend, walk in a row rather than next to each other and try to keep a straight line up the slope.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Follow the signs and directions and do not deviate from the trail.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid traversing. If you must cross a slope, please do so where you are visible and where you can see skiers coming. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Respect the opening hours, closed trails and signs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When Ski Touring at night, it is mandatory to ski down the same path used when ascending.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The ski area is a place of work, so be aware of its opening hours. Snow grooming, snow production, winching, avalanche prevention work etcetera occurs when the mountain is closed, therefore, entering the area when its closed is prohibited.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Good to know<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Check the weather and avalanche prognosis before heading out. A tip is to check more than one weather service before heading out. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bring a backpack containing warm clothes and something to eat and drink.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check your equipment before heading out. The way back might be longer than you think if your equipment breaks down while on tour. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To carry avalanche safety equipment is always a good idea. Turn on your transceiver before you head out, make sure your batteries are full and test it together with your friend\u2019s equivalents. You also need to practice using the equipment beforehand to make sure you know how everything works. <a href=\"\/en\/see-do\/avalanche-safety-in-are\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">More on avalanche safety.<\/a>  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make sure your phone battery is fully charged so you can get in touch with others or call for emergency help if an accident occurs during your excursion. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Take a course or hike with a guide<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Would you like to try Ski Touring, but lack equipment and\/or the experience? Please pay attention to, and respect, the opening hours specified the opening hours specified here. Please note that opening hours may vary depending on the season. In the ski maps below you find the starting point for each ski touring trail marked in red text. Start at the VM 8:an\u2019s valley station (\u00c522) and walk along L\u00e5ngsv\u00e4ngen l\u00e5gzon (34) to R\u00f6dkullen valley station. Make a right turn and continue along R\u00f6dkulleleden (46). Move on along \u00c5releden l\u00e5gzon (48) to the VM8:an upper lift station at VM-plat\u00e5n. Descend via G\u00e4strappet (57).   <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Arenaleden, \u00c5re village<strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vertical Drop<\/strong>: 430 meters<br><strong>Length<\/strong>: 3300 meters<br><strong>Opening Hours:<\/strong> Daytime only, during regular opening hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Vertical Drop: 430 meters<br>Length: 3300 meters<br>Opening Hours: Daytime only, during regular opening hours.<br><br>This trail takes you from the bottom of Gondolen ski lift to the top of the same lift. If you want to ski tour all the way from the valley, connect from Arenaleden described above. This trails starts at the VM-plat\u00e5n and makes a westward turn towards R\u00f6dkullen along the World Cup Trail (47). Make a turn to your right after circa 600 meters, then make another turn to the right and follow \u00c5re-leden h\u00f6gzon (49).   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">L\u00e5ngbacksleden, \u00c5re village<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vertical Drop:<\/strong> 280 meters<br><strong>Length<\/strong>: 1300 meters<br><strong>Opening Hours:<\/strong> Daytime only, during regular opening hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>A nice tour located entirely above the tree line and rewarding you with some great turns high up on the \u00c5reskutan mountain. Start at the 1000 meter lift plateau and walk to the \u00c5re topplat\u00e5 by following the East side of the slope Fj\u00e4llbacken (81). If you need help, you might find personell in the old house next to the 1000 meter lift (1000-metersliften). If the flags are out, they are on site.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Byleden, \u00c5re village<strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vertical Drop<\/strong>: 430 meters<br><strong>Length<\/strong>: 3300 meters<br><strong>Opening Hours:<\/strong> Daytime only, during regular opening hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>This trail could be seen as a winter variation of the local villagers favorite hike, up or around the Totthummeln. The trail starts at \u00c5re square (\u00c5re torg) or at VM6:an at Kabinhuset (\u00c531). Walk along the East side of Stj\u00e4rnbacken (74) to Fj\u00e4llg\u00e5rdsexpress (\u00c534) and continue along Tottliften\u2019s (\u00c535) lift track. Follow it to the top of the lift (\u00c535) to Tott Berg (\u00c535)\/Fj\u00e4llg\u00e5rdsexpress Berg (\u00c534). The terrain is quite demanding.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ull\u00e5leden, Ull\u00e5dalen<strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vertical Drop<\/strong>: 600 meters<br><strong>Length<\/strong>: 3800 meters<br><strong>\u00d6ppettider<\/strong>: 08.00-20.00. When the ski area is closed, descend the same route you used on the way up.. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>This one is perhaps the most popular among ski tourers in \u00c5re, taking you from Ull\u00e5dalen to the top of \u00c5reskutan with great views on the way. Start at the Ull\u00e5dalen XC-center or the Ull\u00e5dalsliften valley station (\u00c514). Walk along Ull\u00e5mon (31) and continue along L\u00e5ngsv\u00e4ngen h\u00f6gzon (35) to \u00c5re topplat\u00e5. The first 300 meters are quite easy. A bit further up it becomes trickier as you walk through a steep and narrow part via Stendalsravinen. This trail starts at Bj\u00f6rnenliften\u2019s valley station (B40). Follow Bj\u00f6rnenleden (105) to the Tottliften top station (\u00c535)\/the Fj\u00e4llg\u00e5rdsexpress top station (\u00c534). After approx. 850 meters, walk across the slope Hermelinenbacken (111). Make sure to keep an eye out for descending skiers.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">J\u00e4rvleden, Bj\u00f6rnen<strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vertical Drop<\/strong>: 170 meters<br><strong>Length:<\/strong> 1200 meters<br><strong>Opening Hours: <\/strong>Nighttime only. Opening hours are available at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skistar.com\/en\/ski-destinations\/are\/summer-in-are\/lifts-weather\/?fo=89089\">SkiStar\u2019s website.<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>This is an easy trail suitable for an easy evening tour. Don't forget to bring a headlight as this area is not illuminated. Opening hours are available at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skistar.com\/en\/ski-destinations\/are\/summer-in-are\/lifts-weather\/?fo=89089\">SkiStar\u2019s website.<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>This trail takes you from the bottom to the top of the Duved ski area. Start at the funicular valley station (Linbanan D2). Walk up along Mullfj\u00e4llsbacken (3) to the funicular\u2019s top station. On Tuesdays and Saturdays you can ski down Hamrebacken, which is equipped with flood lights, as it is open for night skiing.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ler\u00e5leden, Duved<strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vertical Drop:<\/strong> 360 meters<br><strong>Length:<\/strong> 1950 meters<br><strong>Opening Hours:<\/strong> Daytime only, during regular opening hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Start at Ler\u00e5liften (D5) and walk up along the lift track to the top station. The lift will be in use while you walk along the lift track. Therefore, this trail requires some previous experience. Make sure to walk in a straight line and keep as close to the side of the track as possible.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tegeleden, Tegefj\u00e4ll<strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vertical Drop:<\/strong> 370 meters<br><strong>Length: <\/strong>2400 meters<br><strong>Opening Hours:<\/strong> Daytime only, during regular opening hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>This tour runs mostly in sheltered terrain among the trees and you can make a short detour to <a href=\"\/en\/companies\/lillastugan\/\">Lill\u00e5stugan<\/a> to reward yourself with a waffle. Start at the valley station of Tegefj\u00e4llsliften (D9) and walk along Tegesv\u00e4ngen (15). After approx. 250 meters, turn onto Lill\u00e5leden (20) and walk toward Fj\u00e4llvallsliften\u2019s valley station (D10).
