Jackie Paaso

Under vinterhalvåret slåss hon om pallplaceringar i Freeride World Tour. Mellan varven landar hon hemma i Åre. Åker skidor på vintern, cyklar på sommaren. Möt amerikanskan Jackie Paaso som numer betraktar Åre som sitt hem.

Jackie Paaso är uppvuxen i New England i nordöstra USA med bakgrund inom freestyle och puckelpist. Att hon hamnade i Åre kan vi tacka Freeride World Tour-kollegan och numer äkta maken Reine Barkered för.

You get a mix of conditions that allow skiers to master skiing no mater what mother nature is sending your way.

Som hitflyttad amerikan vill hon gärna hjälpa till att visa upp Åre för resten av världen.

– My goal as an American transplant to Åre is to try and show the rest of the world what a great place Åre is to explore. I look forward to being apart of Team Åre Sweden to use this as a platform to be able to do so. I also hope to be able to bring other programs I’ve been working on like SAFE AS Clinics to Åre to share it with a new community.

Åre genomsyras av en passion för skidåkning. Jackie tror att det är en av anledningarna till att just Åre är hem för så många duktiga skidåkare. En annan anledning tror hon är tillgången till ett berg som kan utmana även världens bästa skidåkare.

– My friends that have grown up in Åre always talk about how much fun they have in Åre and how creative you can be while exploring the mountain. You get a mix of conditions that allow skiers to master skiing no mater what mother nature is sending your way.

Jackies Åreskidtips

• My favorite piste would have to be Störtloppet, especially early morning when it’s freshly groomed.
• My favorite off piste run is Blåstensvalvet.
• My favorite ski touring spot would have to be out from the Sylarna mountain station. I’ve only been out there a few times so there is so much to explore which is very exciting!

Förutom att vara en av värdens vassaste kvinnor på ett par offpistlagg är hon också en inbiten cyklist och cyklingen i Åre ligger henne varmt om hjärtat.

– The Åre Bike Park is the most extensive bike park in Scandinavia with trails for all abilities and views to die for! The trail/enduro riding in the area is some of the best riding I’ve ever experienced. From overnight trips to mountain cabins to day trips in some of the many areas throughout the Åre Municipality you have endless options to explore the beautiful country side of Åre on two wheels.
