Around Åre, you’ll find both campgrounds and designated RV sites—from central locations close to everything in the village to peaceful spots surrounded by nature.

Facilities and services vary from place to place. Some offer electricity, water, showers, restrooms, and kitchens, while others simply provide a place to park for the night. Be sure to check what’s available at your chosen site before you arrive.

Wild camping – what are the rules?

Traveling with your accommodation gives you plenty of freedom, but Sweden’s Right of Public Access does not apply to motorhomes and caravans in the same way it does to tent camping. If you want to spend the night outside a campground or designated RV site, make sure you know the rules for the area. Parking or staying overnight in a motorhome or caravan is not permitted everywhere.

Good to know before you hit the road to Åre

During popular travel periods, Åre can be busy with motorhomes and caravans, so it’s a good idea to check in advance whether your chosen site can—or needs to—be booked. It’s also worth checking what facilities are available, as access to electricity, fresh water, restrooms, showers, and waste disposal varies between sites.

If you’re visiting in winter, a little extra preparation goes a long way. Mountain weather, snow, and cold put different demands on both your vehicle and your gear than a summer road trip. Check the weather and road conditions before setting off, and make sure both you and your vehicle are ready for the conditions.
