A world class biking destination
With 853 meters of vertical drop, Åre Bike Park Downhill is one of Europe’s largest bike parks. Here, barren mountain peaks meet ancient mountain birch forests, designed for both flow and adrenaline. Åre Trail Park, which has evolved in Björnen, offers winding forest trails with varying challenges that attract curious beginners – and technical riders seeking more demanding obstacles.
The biking season in Åre blooms long before winter has ended. Gravel cyclists challenge the seasons and can be seen along the roads well before the first bike lift opens, and road cyclists flock to the roads as soon as the late winter slush has been swept away. For those who stick to the roads, the biking season is both remarkably long and truly beautiful.

Get around by bus
Bring your bike on the bus
The Länstrafiken Jämtland bus 702 operates the route from Kabinbanan to Björnen and Sadeln and is equipped to take you and your bike to where you wish to go. The ride is free of charge if you have a valid Bike Pass (lift pass). If you don’t, you may purchase a ticket via the Länstrafiken app.
A summer in the spirit of biking
Summer seen from the bike saddle is a long one – from the first budding greenery of June to the September days that range from crisp and cool to warm and humid. Enjoy every single day!

June
June is the month when biking in the mountains awakens. As the first lift starts spinning, the village fills with anticipation, and sometimes the trails still need to be cleared of snow after a generous winter.
Åre Bike Park is prepared for those who want to ride trail and downhill, and the outdoor terraces fill up with happy cyclists enjoying the first sun and warmth of early summer.
July
July explodes with energy on the mountain. Competitions and the summer highlight Åre Bike Festival transform Åre into a meeting place for adventurers – where all worlds collide, and that’s the whole charm.
Bike guides deliver experiences and share new knowledge, while rental shops and workshops fix your bike as you choose your after-bike spot for the day.
August
August delivers lift-accessed biking every day throughout the month. There are fewer people around, leaving more space for those who want to experience true freedom.
Starting August 17, the Stjärnliften and the Kabinbanan operate Monday–Sunday, while the VM8 lift runs Thursday–Sunday.
September
September surprises many who have never experienced autumn in the mountains before – it’s a spectacle that charms most with its crisp air and magnificent colors.
Biking in Åre in September is like riding through a painting. Some days are most beautiful high up on the mountain, while other days beckon you to dizzying forest rides.
