Skiing in Åre offers everything from winding pistes through sheltered forests and wide-open alpine terrain with breathtaking views to terrain parks packed with features. Ride button lifts, T-bars, chairlifts, gondolas and the iconic aerial tramway. With 41 lifts, 89 green, blue, red and black runs, and 890 metres of vertical drop, there's something for every kind of skier.
If skiing is at the top of your holiday wish list, Åre is hard to beat. We usually avoid saying there's something for everyone, but in this case it's simply true. From magic carpets for first-timers and World Cup slopes to challenging off-piste terrain and terrain parks with jumps of every size, Åre has skiing for every level and style. All that's left to do is find your favourite part of the mountain.
The Åre ski area is operated by SkiStar, which also runs the ski resorts in Vemdalen, Sälen, Hemsedal and Trysil, as well as Hammarbybacken in Stockholm.
Explore the area
Åre's ski area features 89 runs spread across three distinct areas: the central ski area in Åre Village, family-friendly Björnen, and Duved/Tegefjäll, located around 10 kilometres west of Åre. Duved and Tegefjäll are fully connected, making it easy to ski between the two using lifts and pistes. You can also reach Duved/Tegefjäll by ski bus or car. If you'd like to learn more about each ski area, lift passes, parking, restaurants and other practical information, you'll find everything you need here.
Welcome to Åre, the alpine heart of Scandinavia.
