There are plenty of activities to add to your conference program, and the scenery is amazing, dressed in lush greenery in spring and summer which turn into vibrant autumn colors. Here, we provide you with a few tips of the many things you can do in Åre during this period, from calmer to adventurous, to culinary excursions and other gems you can chose to add to your agenda. These are activities that will strengthen your team spirit but also provide memories for life and plenty of talking points to bring back home.

The tips below are just a few in a vast range of opportunities. Our Activity Providers and Guides provide a great number of fun activities that may be adjusted to your needs. Take a look further down to explore their activity programs.

Energise yourselves

Hiking

Leave the meeting room and screens behind and go for a hike. Use the guide Åre Trails to chose a trail that suits your team, take the lift (why not experience the cable car Åre Kabinbana while you’r at it) to start your hike from the top of Åreskutan or book a guided hike with one of our Activity Companies.

Remember to plan your hike carefully, to wear good hiking shoes, bring extra clothing and snacks and tell someone where you’re going. Then, enjoy.

Yoga på Sats Holiday club

Yoga everywhere

Yoga classes are on offer all over in Åre, and almost all of the time. Practice yoga up on the mountain, on the water or, of course, indoors, or as part of a longer experience. Yoga is not just movement but an energy boost, and there are options that suit almost everyone, from Ashtanga to “old man”.

Starting the day with yoga will give you the energy to keep your minds focused on any task that’s at hand, or it could be a way to wind down in the afternoon.

Person på SUP i solnedgång

Paddling, bathing and sauna

SUP (Stand up Paddle Board), canoeing and kayaking are amazing tools for enjoying still, or rushing waters. The SUP can be a challenge for your balance but with the help of a guide you’ll have a great time on the water. You can also rent a canoe or kayak by yourselves or book a guided tour to get more out of your outing.

Taking a voluntary dip isn’t bad either, and make sure to finish your day in the sauna.

Time travel

Amongst new developments, guests and vivacity you can glimpse the farm village which is the origin from where today’s Åre stems.

Morrvikja, or Maria Wilhelmsson, who’s forefathers have been here for generations, will take you on guided tours through Åre’s vast history, and present an experience full of warmth and great knowledge.

Adventurous activities

Biking

In winter, Mount Åreskutan offers world class alpine skiing. In summer and autumn it hosts Scandinavia’s largest Bike Park with Downhill cycling on the front of the mountain and a large area for Trail Cycling (XC) in Björnen. Åre’s Biking Guides will help you to find the right trails for your group, as well as the right difficulty and tempo.

Downhill cycling is guaranteed to give you an adrenaline rush and enjoyable stomach tingling, while Trail Cycling demands a bit more effort on the way up but provides a smooth ride through the woods on the way down. And, for your information, electric bikes are available for rental.

Climbing park

Åre’s climbing park is a fun challenge for the whole group. The park consists of different courses of different levels of difficulty and contain a variation of challenging elements placed in and between the treetops.

Ziplines run between the courses and the longest is 62 meters and offers a wild ride over Björnen’s ski slopes.

Forsränning i Åre

River rafting

River Rafting in the Åre rapids is world-class. This is an activity that make your heart race and your adrenaline run but you’ll also learn a few things from your experienced guides.

You can really go River Rafting on rafts or in kayaks and if you want to go a bit slower, you can chose quieter runs. Guaranteed wet fun!

Mountain cart

A Mountain cart is a large tricycle with off-road tires and it’ll give you a breath-taking ride down Mt. Åreskutan’s trails. You can easily regulate your speed using the handbrake, to regulate your pace.

A stop for a coffee along the road with Renfjället and Mullfjället as a backdrop is a must!

Explore caves

The Kvarnbäck labyrinth is located in a beautiful and ancient forest area on Mt. Åreskutans “backside”. It’s a cave system and the tunnels reach up to 350 meters. Your guide JoPe Fors & Fjäll will give you overalls, helmets and head lamps before you go in and explore. This is a challenge for the body, but also for the mind.

Culinary activities

Outdoor dinner

To gather around an open fire and cook dinner together is a winning concept every day of the week – whether it be a simple dish or a grand three-course meal. Take a seat on a reindeer hide and enjoy the evening’s food and beverages while the sun slowly sets over the valley. The tipi tent offers shelter if the weather takes a turn. Take a look at Fröålägret for inspiration for an unforgettable outdoor experience.

Åre Chocolate Factory

For over 30 years, the local chocolate factory Åre Chokladfabrik has provided the world with handmade chocolates of the highest quality (approximately nine million of them so far). Every year, carefully handmade pralines leave the factory – the truffles are made, the pralines are cut into squares, dipped, garnished, and placed in paper cones.

A visit here is tailored entirely to your own wishes, but one thing is for sure, you’ll get to peek into the factory and learn everything you need to know about chocolate – and of course get to taste the delicious truffles. Or, book a chocolate tasting event where Åre Chokladfabrik comes to you.

Hiking with a taste of Åre

A short gastronomic mountain hike or historical walk through the village with a few stops along the way where you can enjoy locally produced delicacies such as cheese, charcuterie, chocolate, and drinks while learning more about the village’s gastronomy. A deliciously divine combo!

Extra gems

Summiting Mt. Åreskutan

Standing on Mt. Åreskutan’s summit at 1420 meters above sea level with a view of the entire mountain range in a 360° angle surpasses most things in life. And summiting Mt. Åreskutan doesn’t have to be so hard. Instead of hiking up from the foot of the mountain, take the cable car up to the mountain station at 1274 meters above sea level. Then it’s only a 2.1 km hike with a climb of 187 meters left before you reach the summit.

Morning coffee with a view

Imagine your first cup of coffee in the morning being served with a breathtaking view – it’s the ultimate start to your day. And you won’t have to go far. Try the view from the mountain side just above the village or head down to the lake and enjoy the view over Lake Åresjön and the mighty Mullfjället.

Waterfalls: Tännforsen and Ristafallet

The water rushes, thunders, roars, changes colour and continues its journey downstream just as it’s done for ages. Tännforsen is Sweden’s largest waterfall and is a powerful experience all year round. Ristafallet is not as large as Tännforsen but it’s a mighty experience as you can get very close to it. Ristafallet is also the set for the scenes where Glupafallet appears in the film adaptation of Astrid Lindgren’s Ronia the Robber’s Daughter.
