Åre Hemslöjd
There’s absolutely no reason to leave the feeling of Åre behind just because you’re heading home. Åre Hemslöjd
In the old trading house on Åre Square, you’ll find Åre Hemslöjd, a treasure trove of locally crafted goods of high quality, full of that unique Åre feeling. Take your time and browse more than once among clothing, footwear, home décor, jewellery, and beautiful pieces – there’s a lot to discover. Looking for the perfect Åre gift? A mountain-inspired piece of jewellery, a handcrafted wooden cup (kåsa), or traditional birch bark craft are timeless favourites.
Åre Chokladfabrik
Not all treasures need to last forever – sometimes the best things are those you can eat. On that note, Åre Chokladfabrik is a must. Handmade chocolates and other melt-in-the-mouth creations deliver true flavour fireworks – perfect as a treat for the journey home or to enjoy by the fire in your room, of course.
Årebutiken
At the lower station of the Åre Funicular, dating back to 1910, you’ll find Årebutiken – a shop filled with all things Åre. From trays and cushion covers to posters with Åre motifs and clothing for both young and old. You’ll also find items with a sense of humour – step inside and discover your next conversation starter!
Lundhags Fabriksbutik
In 1932, shoemaker Jonas Lundhag founded a brand with the vision of crafting comfortable boots built to last a lifetime. Today, Lundhags offers a wide range of outdoor gear for every taste and activity. You’ll find their Factory Outlet in Järpen, at Atlantvägen 1, right by the E14. Take the trip and bag a bargain!
Åre kafferosteri
A must for any coffee lover is a visit to Åre Kafferosteri, also located on Åre Square. Award-winning, aromatic, and utterly delicious – their blends will send your taste buds into joyful somersaults. The perfect gift for someone who has everything but still wants to bring the taste of Åre home.
Åre ljusfabrik
Buy or make your own – at Åre Candle Factory in Undersåker, you may cast your own candles (it doesn’t get more “Åre” than that!) and/or pick up a glowing, handcrafted souvenir for yourself or someone else. Candle-making times are listed on their website.
Åre Glashytta
In Duved’s old station building, you’ll find Åre Glashytta – as the name suggests, a place where glass is crafted in beautiful and creative ways. Visit their shop and gallery, where the furnace burns all year round, and treat yourself to a unique gift – for you or someone special.
Åre Skidfabrik
This one stands out – but oh boy, this could be the Åre thing you bring home. Åre Skidfabrik (Åre Ski Factory), located in Såå, is where you’ll find their own brand, Extrem – and if inspiration strikes, you can even create your own custom design.
One Place – Many Gems
At ICA Supermarket, just by the tills, you’ll find a special corner – now quite a sizeable one – featuring local food products from favourites like Åre Kafferosteri, Åre Chokladfabrik, and Åre Te. It’s the perfect little discovery while waiting for the train or if you feel you didn’t quite have time to explore all that Åre has to offer.
