10 reasons to choose Åre

The village’s atmosphere, its unbeatable nature, it’s large selection of accommodations, meeting facilities and exciting activities – there are many reasons to choose Åre for your meeting or conference. Here we’ve listed our 10 best reasons:

#1 Atmosphere

The second you step off at the railway platform, you’re surrounded by Åre’s unique atmosphere. Lying at the foot of Mt. Åreskutan, this small mountain village has a range worthy of a big city that’s beautifully framed by lakes and mountains.

It’s not just one individual thing that makes Åre unique, it’s the great mix. A 1000-year-old history paired with a strong forward-thinking spirit. It’s world-class cycling and skiing trails. It’s hiking trails and cross-country trails through and over vast mountains. It’s award-winning restaurants and small waffle houses without electricity. It’s icy mountain lakes and exclusive SPAs. Sparkling snow and rippling water. It’s a pulsating village centre and magnificent nature that leave no one untouched. It’s guests, residents and seasonal visitors and it’s this unique mix that’s sometimes difficult to put into words – but we guarantee you’ll feel it.

#2 Climate-smart and comfortable travels

Travel to Åre comfortably and climate-smart by train. It stops in the middle of the village and has both night trains and direct day departures from most areas in Sweden. It’s also time efficient to take the train – if you choose a day train, you can start your conference while on-route and if you choose a night train, you can sleep well, wake up rested and be ready to kick-off your conference directly after waking up.

Once here, hotels, restaurants and activity companies in the village care for this place and help you make sustainable and wise choices. If you need to travel further you can get around Åre and the surrounding areas in a simple and sustainable way with electric cars provided by the car-sharing service Aimo Share.

#3 The Mountains

Åre lies at the foot of Mt. Åreskutan and as soon as you step outside your hotel door, you’re struck by beautiful mountain peaks surrounding the village. Take the cable car up Mt. Åreskutan, or within a 10-minute drive you could be in the valley Ullådalen and its breath-taking open spaces. It’s in the mountains that you’ll gain new strengths and create new memories together.

#4 Close to everything

In Åre it is close to everything. From the hotels in the village, it’s walking distance to shops, restaurants, hiking trails, ski slopes, conference rooms and the large congress hall located near lake Åresjön beach.
