The Longest Day of the Year – Biking Until 21:00, Cable Car Open Until 22:00
An Extraordinary Midsummer Day on Åreskutan
On Midsummer Day, Åreskutan stays open longer than any other day of the year. From morning until late evening, there’s plenty of time to fill your day with mountain adventures—whether you’re biking, hiking, or simply heading up to enjoy the views and the endless midsummer light.
For cyclists, it’s a true bonus day. The Gondola and Stjärnliften remain open until 21:00, giving you extra hours on the mountain and plenty of time for both favorite trails and a few additional laps. VM8 closes at 16:00.
World Cup Celebration at the Summit
As evening falls, a one-of-a-kind experience awaits. Sweden’s World Cup match will be shown on a giant screen at Base Camp, high on Åreskutan. To make it possible to attend, the Gondola will continue operating until 22:00 for match visitors. Read more here >>
50th Anniversary with Free Gondola Rides
As if that weren’t enough, the Gondola is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Since the 1970s, it has carried generations of visitors to the top of Åreskutan and become an iconic part of the mountain experience.
To mark the occasion, Gondola rides are free all day and evening—making it the perfect opportunity to discover, or rediscover, the views from the roof of Åre.
