Christmas dinner
Christmas is fast approaching and Åre’s restaurants are preparing their Christmas Dinner tables for weeks in advance. A traditional Swedish Christmas dinner is a feast for many with numerous dishes served as a “smörgåsbord” buffet full of local delicacies. There is pickled herring in different styles, smoked salmon, hand-knotted sausages, the center piece Christmas ham and lots of different cold cut meats served with home-cooked mulled wine, local brew and off course snaps. Remember to book in time – the seats are usually in short supply!
TIPS: Pick up a bag full of well prepared Christmas food and serve it at home in your cabin. Christmas dinner for take-away can be booked at Bergstugan Fröå Gruva and Carins Krog.
Bergstugan Fröå Gruva

Bergstugan’s traditional Christmas dinner where everything is made from scratch can also be enjoyed in your own home. Book your Christmas Box in advance and pick it up at Bergstugan on the 23/12.

Buustamons Fjällgård
A Swedish classic Christmas dinner with elements of local products and goodies is served at this cosy lodge hotel in the middle of the ski system, 732 m above sea level. The home-cooked mulled wine is served in their own distillery.

On Christmas Eve an atmospheric Swedish Christmas dinner with a touch of Jämtland and Norrland is served here. The evening begins with mulled wine and Swedish “Julmust”. The starter is served at the table and the main course is served buffet-style at your table. Afterwards there is a delicious dessert buffet so save space in your stomach for.

A genuine Jämtlandish Christmas dinner is served here with carefully prepared food from the region’s produce. Meat from the neighboring farm Forsa Fjälljordbruk, game from both forest and lake, vegetables from Trappnäs Gård and drinks from many fine local breweries. The dinner begins with the farm’s own mulled wine in front of the fire and is rounded off with festive desserts, lovely pastries and a buffet table.
