Christmas in Åre

During December, Åre is transformed into a dreamy Christmas village. Thousands of Christmas lights twinkle in the snow-covered trees and the stately Christmas tree adorns our village square. Shops and restaurants are beautifully decorated and you can enjoy a typical Swedish “Julbord”, the Christmas version of smörgåsbord with loads of local dishes on a buffet table. Stroll around the village, peek into Santa’s cosy Christmas cottage and enjoy the joyful atmosphere that prevails.

Meet Santa in his little Christmas cabin, cozy up around the fire and enjoy the wonderful Christmas atmosphere. The children can submit their wish list and mulled wine and gingerbread are offered. 🎄✨

Even when Christmas is celebrated away from home, there must be Christmas coziness! In Åre, you’ll find everything you need to set the mood in the cabin. You can buy a Christmas tree at ICA Björnänge, here you can find fir trees in the appropriate size. Christmas flowers with amaryllis and fragrant hyacinths also belong to Christmas.
