Experience Åre in a Safe Way. Some questions may arise during the planning of your holiday in Åre due to the circumstances. Will you be able to eat out as you usually do? Åre’s entrepreneurs have long been a rather stubborn people and are used to thinking innovatively and acting proactively. Below are some suggestions on how to experience Åre in a safe way.

Shop Online or Remotely

  • Purchase your groceries easily online at Ica Åre and Ica Björnänge.
  • Åre Hemslöjd will take you on a guided shopping tour throughout the store via Facetime. Get help selecting from their handicraft products, gift wrapping and home delivery if you want.
  • At the Lantz i Åre hairdressers, you can order luxurious hair products, pay via Swish and receive home delivery if needed.
  • At Åre Skidsport you can shop online with personal service from the entire range. If you want help with wrapping, just enter it into your order.
  • Outdoor Buddies offer both rental and purchase in their online shop filled with clothes and equipment for outdoor activities.
  • Kaki and Åre Marketplace are open for personal shopping before and after regular opening hours. Contact Kaki or Åre Marketplace for booking.

Shopping by Reservation on Your Own Time

  • Avoid queues when waiting to try on ski boots and book a time for boot fitting at Åre Skidsport.
  • For private shopping, book a time before or after closing hours at Åre Hemslöjd.
  • Eldabutiken offers pre booked client visits before or after regular opening hours.
  • At Skidcenter Åre Björnen you can book a visit before or after regular opening hours for personal shopping.

Home Delivery

  • Choose whether you want to pick-up your groceries at the store or have them delivered when you purchase groceries online at Ica Åre and Ica Björnänge.
  • Åre Hemslöjd offers free home delivery between Björnen – Åre – Duved with a purchase of 499 SEK and above.
  • Åre Travel can help you with home deliveries from almost anywhere in Åre and as one of their “Mood Manager” services.
  • Outdoor Buddies can deliver products for rent and sale from their online shop to your doorstep at a small extra cost. Add it to your shopping cart before checking out.

  • Try out ice driving on Lake Åresjön where everyone will drive their own test car which is cleaned between drivers according to protocol with Active Driving.

Extended Opening Hours in the Ski Area

The ski area operator SkiStar has extended their opening hours to reduce the risk of crowding. More lifts open early in the morning and are kept open longer in the evening than usual.Click this link to find the ski area opening hours >> 


According to the new Pandemic Law, shops, gyms, shopping centers and other businesses are obliged to limit the number of visitors on their respective premises. They are responsible for assuring that each visitor has an area of at least 10 square meters at their disposal. The maximum number of visitors allowed needs to be displayed at the entrance. A Tip! Adjust your shopping

Many shops and other businesses in Åre have extended their opening hours to avoid crowding. Check the opening hours before you head out so that you can adjust your shopping by when there’s less chance of crowding. Between 15.00 and 18.00 CET there are generally more people in the village and its shops than in the morning and later in the evening. 

To put it shortly, we’re doing everything we can here in Åre to make sure that our visitors  will be able to experience magical days in the mountains and a wonderful vacation, safely.
