Okay. What do you want to train – strength, agility, endurance? One of the above or all of the above? Welcome to Åre! Cycle or run. Up, down or on flat surfaces. Let your speedy feet bounce over roots and rocks and do push-ups on a mountain top.
When it comes to training physical and mental endurance, it’s merely your imagination that sets the limits to exactly how a training session in Åre can be. There are so many options that it’s impossible to list them all. But, here’s 3 insider tips worth checking out.
#1 Outdoor gym
In a forest glade in Björnen you’ll find Åre’s outdoor gym. Take the opportunity to increase strength and balance with nature as your witness.
To get here: Drive up to Björnen from E14. Continue past the Ski Center and past the start of the bike trails. Look out to the right after the small uphill. There you’ll find the parking lot and the outdoor gym.
#2 Vertical K
Go for a vertical kilometre. Start at the Peak Performance General Store in Åre Square and follow the set trail for 1000 height meters (5 km distance). Vertical K targets the Mt. Åreskutans peak but you can also take on a slightly shorter challenge of 0.5 Km (485 height meters, 2 km distance) finishing at Hummeln. Buy a pass for 50 SEK on the web or in the store. Register and run. Compare your time against yourself or others.
#3 SUP-yoga
Let every little stabilizing muscle work by moving out through yoga on a SUP board in Lake Åresjön. SUP yoga classes are provided by Holiday Club.
