Okay. What do you want to train – strength, agility, endurance? One of the above or all of the above? Welcome to Åre! Cycle or run. Up, down or on flat surfaces. Let your speedy feet bounce over roots and rocks and do push-ups on a mountain top.

When it comes to training physical and mental endurance, it’s merely your imagination that sets the limits to exactly how a training session in Åre can be. There are so many options that it’s impossible to list them all. But, here’s 3 insider tips worth checking out.

Outdoor gym x2

In the same area as Åre Trail Park in Björnen, right next to Valletorget, you’ll find Åre’s outdoor gym. It’s the perfect spot to work on strength and balance surrounded by mountain scenery.

Getting here: From the E14, follow the road up toward Björnen and park by Skidcenter. The outdoor gym is located just below Skidcenter and Carins Krog.

Åre strand/Holiday Club

Anna Swenn Larsson, world famous alpine skier, has an outdoor gym in Åre, located on Holiday Club’s seaside.

Find it:  If you arrive by car, park it on Holiday Club’s parking lot and head towards the beach promenade. The gym is located right behind the hotel so regardless of which way you arrive from, it’s easy to find.

Vertical K

Go for a vertical kilometre. Start at the Peak Performance General Store in Åre Square and follow the set trail for 1000 height meters (5 km distance). Vertical K targets the Mt. Åreskutans peak but you can also take on a slightly shorter challenge of 0.5 Km (485 height meters, 2 km distance) finishing at Hummeln. Buy a pass for 50 SEK on the web or in the store. Register and run. Compare your time against yourself or others.
