Updates & a record-long season in Åre Bike Park
Åre Bike Park is one of the worlds’ largest bike parks, containing more than 40 downhill trails, from brilliant blue to boldest black. The 2025 summer season offers some updates, a record-long season and extra celebrations of Midsummer’s Day– the longest day of the year. It bodes well for an amazing cycling season in Åre.
The Summer Season is Longer than Ever
Sweden’s National Day is celebrated on June 6th. It’s also the day for the season opening of Åre Bike Park Downhill. Midsummer which co-insides with the longest day of the year: Midsummer’s Day, follows, and after that, we just keep going. The lifts are open daily until the last of August, but the season doesn’t end there. Until the 28th of September, the lifts are open Thursday through Sunday so prepare to make the most of the longest season to date in Åre Bike Park Downhill.
TIP! Check out The Longest Day of the Year below to see how to make the most of the Midsummer’s Day celebrations.

Easy Rider – More Flow on Åre’s Signature Trails
Easy Rider is Sweden’s most beautiful downhill cycling trail, and it’s had a bit of an upgrade for the coming season to better suit its blue grading. This means more flow and it will, guaranteed, deliver some exuberant laughter on the way down Åreskutan this summer. The remoulding of Åre’s signature trail, makes it more suitable for cyclists of most levels to enjoy. It’s still mighty, but not too difficult.

WingMan & Double Dave are Ready
Two popular and classical downhill cycling trails are also ready for new adventures: The long and well-known jump trail WingMan, which is full of velodromes and jumps, and the shorter but great blue trail Double Dave. Both were renovated last year and are now definitely ready for downhill cyclists who want to make new, or re-live, some great cycling experiences during the long summer of 2025.
The Longest Day of the Year
Absolutely nothing can compete with experiencing a summer’s evening on the mountain, accompanied by that special sunlight that lingers over the horizon. On Midsummer’s Day, we will be able to enjoy this fine experience even longer as the lifts are open until well into the summer’s evening.
Extra Opening Hours – Åreskutan
The summer solstice falls on June 21st. It’s the longest day of the year and it will be properly celebrated as Stjärnliften (chairlift) and Kabinbanan (cable car) starts running at 10 AM and keep doing so until 9 PM. This is an excellent opportunity to max-out on the Midsummer’s Day on the mountain, whether you’re on a bike, hiking, or go up (and down) with the Cable Car to experience the 360° view of mighty mountains.
With these two lifts, you’ll be able to reach all the downhill cycling trails and many of the hiking trails. Go up with the lift and walk down, or go both up and down, if you just wish to see the views from 1420 metres above sea level. Basecamp and Toppstugan (situated on the very peak of Åreskutan) are open, as long as the weather allows, so you needn’t get hangry up there either.

A Brand-New Music Scene & More Country
What summer would be complete without music and dancing? This summer, we get to see a brand-new music scene in Åre and we get one more day of true Southern musical experiences with a touch of the mountains in Duved.
Musikkväll by Åresjön – a New Experience
Åre gets a brand-new music scene as Jubel and Holiday Club join efforts in creating Musikkväll vid Åresjön (Music by Lake Åre). In July, three of Sweden’s most well-known artists and music groups hits the stage. This is surely looking to become the best hang-out by Åre strand this year. It will be the perfect days to enjoy mountainous activities in the daytime, such as cycling, hiking, swimming, paddling, etcetera, and then join up with friends and family in the evening to hang out, accompanied by top-class live music.

Duved Country Becomes a Two-Day Festival
Duved invites you to two day-bash, in true spirit of the American South. This is the third time that we get to experience Duved Country and this year, it becomes a two-day festival. Experience country and bluegrass performed by some of the genre’s most popular artists such as Robin Bengtsson, Don Redmon, Kentucky and Tennessee Tears, who’ll hit the stage on the 8th and 9th of August.
The festival includes a family day with plenty of events for our smallest cowboys and cowgirls.
Running Bonanza – Camps & Races
Running in a mountainous setting offers anything from Alp-like conditions to soft plains, rich in flora, to forests and bogs. It’s a lust filled experience for body and mind and a great family experience.

Marathon & Orienteering in Södra Årefjällen
If you’re looking for a running event, or running events with add-ons, there are plenty to choose from in Södra Årefjällen. There’s the well-known Fjällmaraton Gastronomy in June, and the Fjällmarathon Week in July/August but if orienteering sounds fun, you can also participate in the Årefjällens 3-dagars event. It’s a three-day orienteering event where two of the days are placed in Trillevallen in July.
Running Experiences for the Whole Family
If you don’t wish to race but still get out there and experience the mountains, and develop as a runner, perhaps with a guide, there are running camps to choose from. Edsåsdalen in Southern Årefjällen offers running camps for the whole family where Trail Kids is one example. Bring the whole family for a mountainous exploration and fill up on energy and experiences.
St Olavsloppet Returns
St Olavsloppet has, since the beginning in 1988, seen countless runners hand over their batons between Trondheim and Östersund. After a few years’ absence, this much-appreciated relay event is back in Åre as one of its stages ends in central Åre. Come to cheer on the brave participants or gather a team to participate yourselves.
Eat & Drink – Extra Opening Hours
There are always plenty of culinary experiences to enjoy in and nearby Åre Valley and nearby and in the summer of 2025, some businesses outside of Åre village are extending their opening hours to let us enjoy good food in stunning environments.

Award Winning Ice Cream & Bread in Åre Park
Grädda Åre, well-known among ice cream enthusiasts and bread lovers, brings a new concept to Parkvägen in Åre Park. A new and smaller branch of the already well-established bakery and ice cream shop on Årevägen will offer new and experimental tastes, hopefully starting in July. Keep an eye on Grädda’s social media for further details.
In Vålådalen, the mountain station opens on June 13th and offer food and drinks in their restaurant and café for day- and overnight guests, including on Midsummer.
Lillåstugan’s våffelbruk is in itself a reason to visit Ullådalen. Small, large and furry four-legged visitors can have a well-deserved break to eat waffles and fika from June 27th. The plan is to keep it open until the end of September.
In Edsåsdalen, Köjagården and Renfjällsgården are open all summer, even on Midsummer, for visitors who wish to taste food made from local produce in historical mountain settings.
Weddings with Magnificent Backdrops
Ethereal summer splendour, fiery autumn colours and snow-covered mountains make exquisite backdrops to one of life’s most important and fun events: The wedding. Many have climbed, hiked, skied and sled to their ceremonies in Åre over the years and there are plenty of sites to choose from if you wish to do the same.
The mountains are a magical setting for your ceremony, regardless of whether you’re having a small and intimate or big and bold wedding. And after the ceremony, when it’s time to sit down, eat and cheer, celebrate and dance, there are plenty of wedding venues to choose from. From 2025 Renfjällsgården in Edsåsdalen is added to the list as it’s also available for renting. They also offer a full wedding package where they help you to organize the whole thing.
