Events in Åre
Åre is known for hosting events and for being a place perfect for gathering crowds of people and together do things we are passionate about. This year offers an exciting mix of sports events, music, food and markets. Pick your personal favorite and join in to experience all the sprints, finish lines and concert nights taking place in Åre.

JUNE
Åre Bike Park Opening June 6
Åre Bike Park Opening marks not the opening of this year’s record-long downhill season but also Sweden’s National Day. At 10.00 CET, Stjärnliften opens for cyclists and hikers, Hanson Concept store opens for business at Åre square, Red Bull offers music and exhibitors are on site all weekend – and more. Midsummer & the Longest Day of the Year June 21
The longest day of the year falls on June 21st, which also happens to be Midsummer’s Day and that calls for celebrations! The lifts start rolling at 10.00 as usual, but continue well into the summer evening, until 21.00. Make sure to make the most of Midsummer’s Day while seeing the sun (very) slowly setting. St Olavsloppet June 26 – 28 (relay)
This well-established cross-border relay is an annual running event where participating teams run from Trondheim in Norway to Östersund in Sweden, or vice versa. Established in 1988, the route is scenic and varied to say the least. Starting and finishing in Trondheim or Östersund (every other year with start or finish in the respective city), St Olavsloppet runs over mountains and across the border along the scenic St Olav’s Trail. Anyone, from young to old, from elite to beginner, can take part, thanks to the relay format. For the youngest, Mini-Olav is a great complement. Read more >>
Outdoor Pride June 28
There is more than one way to be an outdoors person and it should be heard, seen and felt. Outdoor Pride celebrates diversity and everyone’s right to feel free in the outdoor world. On June 28th, this is marked with a parade where everyone who shares the values of human rights is welcome to participate and Åre torg will be filled with the shades of the rainbow as well as music, exhibitors and activities. Fjällmaraton Gastronomy June 28 – 29
Enjoy local food produce served at the stations along the classical Fjällmaraton trails. Fjällmaraton Gastronomi/Gastronomy (previously Öppet Fjäll), offer two different trails of 25 or 43 km and is aimed at those who wants to experience the mountain marathon trails at a slower pace. JULY
Åre Bike Festival July 2 – 6
This is the biggest biking event of the summer and attracts people from other places in Sweden and the rest of the world. In short, it’s great fun, regardless whether you’re here to be a supportive member of the audience or if you participate in the events. Swedeman Xtreme Triathlon July 5
Swim under Sweden’s largest waterfall, cycle 200 km through the Jämtland wilderness and run up to the finish line at the top of Mt. Åreskutan. Swedeman is part of the Xtreme Triathlon World Tour, so this track is not exactly a walk in the park. Swedeman >>

Västgård Game Fair July 25 – 27
Västgård Game Fair is an annual countryside and wilderness fair in Kall, a village located north-east of Åreskutan. It’s a large event which keeps on growing, and it surely lives up to its name as it’s full os knowledgeable exhibitors, entertainment and more, focusing on fishing, hunting, forestry, farming, dogs, horses and more. The Kia Fjällmaraton week July 26 – August 2
The eight-day running festival is packed with events in a spectacularly scenic setting, with races ranging from 8 to 100 kilometres. Quarter marathons, half marathons, mini marathons and mountain marathons are just a few examples of what’s on offer. And almost anyone can take part and win. For example, anyone who completes the shortest distance race, the Ottsjö 8K with start and finish at the Fjällmaraton Centre in Ottsjö, will compete for generous prizes. Fjällmaraton >>

Fjällmaraton Natt (night) August 23
After the success of the 2024 anniversary race, 2025 offers a new chance to experience what the organizers call their “dream course”. The night race begins at dawn (04.00 CET) and includes crossing “the wall”, a 2 km stretch from Sörbottenvallen up towards Ottfjället, but it’ll also offer both beautiful views and a unique crossing of Ridvadet, an 800 meter course in shallow water across Ottsjön. After 34 km, you’ll finish in Ottsjö where a breakfast buffet with the best of local food crafts from Majas Skafferi awaits. Fjällmaraton Natt >>
Duved Country August 8-9
Duved invites you to two nights of country and bluegrass against a backdrop of mountainous nature. Saturday also offer family activities with highlights such as Bredbytrollen, lassoing and gold digging with Billy the Kid, free of charge. Åre Höstmarknad (Autumn Market) September 26 – 28
Åre Höstmarknad is a colourful family event where hundreds of exhibitors and producers together with visitors and villagers make this one of the autumn’s biggest events in Jämtland. Stroll around the streets of Åre for three days to enjoy music, locally produced food and other products, activities, crowds and a pleasant atmosphere. 1500 square metres of gaming and awesome events – Red Bull GIBAWAY #3 takes over Holiday Club in Åre from November 6th to 9th. The last two editions sold out, no wonder.
