Åre is known for hosting events and for being a place perfect for gathering crowds of people and together do things we are passionate about. MARCH
FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, March 8 – 9
Åre receives its annual and traditional visit from the Alpine World Cup as the ladies run two races in the Alpine National Arena in the middle of March. All Mountain Masters, March 21 – 23
All Mountain Masters is a competition format for children and young people who love park and free skiing. There will be competitions in Freeride and Slopestyle for younger skiers, aged 7-16, with skis and snowboards on their feet. The weekend offers more than competitions, it will be an event for families with community feeling and experiences united in true free ride spirit. Behind the competition is Åre Slalomklubb Freestyle, where skiing profiles such as Henrik Windstedt, Sverre Liliequist and David Kantermo are coaches. All Mountain Masters >>
Skutskjutet March 29
The theme for this weekend in Åre is speed. The long-standing downhill competition Skutskjutet runs on Saturday. Then you need to be the fastest down the 1.6 kilometer long course that ends in Rödkullen. Skutskjutet is a wonderful folk festival where everyone from 3 years and up can take part in one of the 21 different classes. APRIL
Åre Business Forum April 2 – 4
Åre Business Forum is Sweden’s foremost meeting place for business, investments and new contacts, or in other words; The Nordic equivalent of the World Economic Forum in Davos. This is Timmerstugan April 18 – 19
Time again for Timmerstugan’s traditional Easter celebration. This is Timmerstugan is the year’s first festival and the year’s biggest after ski. Fill your Easter Weekend with outdoor festivities accompanied by DJs and artists at the foot of the mountain. Red Bull Homerun April 20
The Red Bull Homerun is pure madness from top to bottom, beginning with a mass start run to your skis or snowboard, and then throwing yourself down the entire Åreskutan mountain as fast as humanly possible. Trilleturen April 26
Take part in a cross country skiing experience with spring skiing over the mountains around Trillevallen. Bring your best friend, colleagues, family or come yourself to a large community where you are served mountain pancakes and drinks and a nice après ski with food at the finish line. The race will have several classes with and without timing and distances of 15 and 30 km respectively. Start and finish in Trillevallen. Åre Sessions – Last weekend of April
Sleepless nights, great music and 5th season-skiing in one of Sweden’s most beautiful settings: Åre Sessions premiered in 2017 and has since been a great part of the End of season-celebration in Åre. Fjällmaraton Gastronomi June 28 – 29
Fjällmaraton Gastronomi with distances of 25 or 43 km is aimed at those who want to experience the mountain marathon trails in a calmer pace, who want to have an experience-rich day on the mountain with good food & drink served along the spectacular trail that ends in the beautiful finish area in Ottsjö. Åre Bike Festival July 2 – 6

Swedeman Xtreme Triathlon July 5
Swim under Sweden’s largest waterfall, cycle 200 km through the Jämtland wilderness and run up to the finish line at the top of Mt. Åreskutan. Swedeman is part of the Xtreme Triathlon World Tour, so this track is not exactly a walk in the park. Swedeman >>

Västgård Game Fair July 25 – 27

The Fjällmaraton week July 26 – August 2
A whole week filled with different running races in a spectacular mountain environment, from 8 to 100 km. Quarter Marathon, Half Marathon, Mini Marathon, Mountain Marathon and more. Some of the races you can choose yourself which day you want to compete. Everyone who finishes the shortest of the distances, Ottsjö 8K with start and finish at the Fjällmaraton centre in Ottsjö, has a chance to win prizes from a generous prize table. Fjällmaraton >>
AUGUST
Fjällmaraton Natt (night) August 23
After the success of the anniversary race in 2024, there will be a new chance to experience what the organizers call their “Dream Course”. The night race (starting time 04.00…) will start in darkness at the Nordbottenvägen along Ottsjön, the classic 2km “wall” from Sörbottenvallen up towards Ottfjället, running in the dawn light over the barren landscape up on Ottfjället and over the Ridvadet – wading for 800m in shallow water across lake Ottsjön. Åre Höstmarknad (Autumn Market) September 26 – 28
Åre Höstmarknad is a colourful family event where almost 150 exhibitors and producers together with visitors and villagers make this the Autumn’s big event in Jämtland. Stroll around the streets of Åre for three days and enjoy music, locally produced food, activities, crowds and a pleasant atmosphere.
