Åre is known for hosting events and for being a place perfect for gathering crowds of people and together do things we are passionate about. This year offers an exciting mix of sports events, music, food and markets. Pick your personal favorite and join in to experience all the sprints, finish lines and concert nights taking place in Åre.

JANUARY 2026
Åre SkiWeek · Week 3–5
This is the largest student event in the Swedish mountains. Take a break from your studies and come to Åre for skiing, meeting other students and joining in the general fun. SkiWeek Village offers great hang outs, food and activities.
Mid winter festival · January 29–February 1
After last year’s sold-out success, the Midwinter Festival returns – bigger, bolder, and more full of magic than ever. In 2026, Europe’s leading artists join forces with Jämtland’s own stars for a week of music, meetings, and midwinter wonder.
Rooted in Jämtland’s culture and landscape, the snow, light, and silence become part of the experience. St. Olav’s Chamber Ensemble, young local talents, and Sami joik share the stage with Malena Ernman, Loa Falkman, and Massimo Quarta.
MARCH 2026
Nordic Sustainability Arena, 12–15 March
In connection with the Alpine World Cup in Åre, the Nordic Sustainability Arena (NoSa) takes place for the second year running. It is a meeting place for business leaders, researchers, politicians, and winter sports representatives – all with the shared mission of safeguarding snowy winters in the future. The focus is on solutions that keep us within the planet’s boundaries.
FIS Alpine World Cup, 14–15 March
The very best alpine skiers in the world gather in Åre to fight for vital World Cup points ahead of the season finale. The Swedish national team will be on site, both for training on home slopes and to meet fans. The highlights of the weekend are the giant slalom and slalom competitions, held at Sweden’s national alpine arena on 14 and 15 March.
Åre Business Forum, 18–20 March
This is Sweden’s number one meeting place for sustainable businesses, investments and networking with a clear focus on growths and making new contacts. Seminars and lectures with well-known speakers is mixed with workshops and plenty of other activities. You’ll meet business owners from all walks of life, board members, important national stakeholders, politicians and others. This is Åre’s and Sweden’s equivalent to Davos!
RIX FM in the Mountains, 26–28 March
RIX FM in the Mountains is a high-energy long weekend in Åre where skiing meets live music, après-ski, and an electric party vibe. Over a few action-packed days, visitors head to the mountains to experience RIX MorronZoo live, concerts with top RIX FM artists, plus club nights and après-ski at some of Åre’s most iconic venues.
Expect the perfect mix of daytime turns on the slopes and nights filled with music, DJs, and live performances—from well-known names to surprise appearances. In short: a social, pulse-raising mountain experience for anyone who wants to combine great skiing with parties, community, and unforgettable live shows in the heart of Åre.
APRIL & MAY 2026
Redbull Homerun, 5 April
Hold on to your hat, skis, or board, and keep your arms and legs close – it’s time for Åre’s wildest race! The concept is simple, but the execution is the real challenge: it’s all downhill from the top, starting with no gear on your feet, as you race to be the first to hurl yourself down Mt. Åreskutan and cross the finish line at Timmerstugan.
Redbull Homerun
Skutskjutet – Downhill for Everyone, 18 April
On 18 April it’s time for the legendary Skutskjutet – a thrilling downhill race open to all levels and an Åre classic celebrating its 50th anniversary. This is Scandinavia’s largest downhill race, with 21 start classes offering something for everyone, from beginners to veterans of all ages. A festive event filled with speed, fun, and lifelong memories – perfect for the whole family.
Åre Sessions, 30 April–3 May
From 30 April to 3 May, Åre Sessions returns as the undisputed highlight of the season finale. From mountainside stages to indoor arenas, the village fills with some of the sharpest artists in the Nordic music scene. And as always, it’s just as much mountain life as it is festival: yoga, ski touring, ski school and unexpected happenings — a long weekend where Åre shows exactly how spring is done.
Red Bull Unrailistic 1 May
In Åre, the world’s top park skiers gather on a course designed and inspired by Jesper Tjäder — one of the most inventive minds in freeskiing. Featuring some of his most imaginative and unexpected rail features, the setup is equal parts challenging and spectacular, pushing athletes to explore what’s possible on snow.
Unrailistic is more than a contest. It’s a celebration of innovation, style, and playful progression — giving fans a front-row seat to skiing at its most creative. In 2026, the event once again raises the bar for freestyle park skiing.
JUNE 2026
Åre Bike Park Opening, 6 June

Sweden’s National Day coincides with the grand opening of Åre Bike Park Downhill, featuring a packed programme of biking and celebrations that run throughout the weekend.
Åre Extreme Challenge, 27 June
The classic multisport race Åre Extreme Challenge returns in 2026 — and this time with exciting updates! In addition to the “regular” competition, other categories are introduced: Lake, featuring a new paddling section, and Run n’ Bike. What’s more, the old running route via Tott is back on the map. This is the ultimate arena for adventure, nature experiences, music, and unforgettable moments — all wrapped up in one truly thrilling package.
Fjällmaraton Gastronomi, 27–28 June
Have a taste of the Swedish mountains – in multiple ways! Fjällmaraton gastronomi (Gastronomy) is for those of us who wish to spend a day in the mountains with great food and tasty drinks served along the way. Choose from 24 or 42K and as the starting time is open you have plenty of time to get around and really enjoy the environment and culinary experiences.
JULY 2026
Åre Bike Festival, 1–5 July
Since 2010, Åre Bike Festival attracts cycling lovers and curious beginners to Åre. In 2026, the adventure continues on two wheels for the avid cyclist as well as the beginner. Experience Åre together with the like-minded and enjoy competitions, clinics, social cycling, After Bike and activities for the youngest cyclists.
Music by the Lake at Åresjön 22+29 July
Music by the Lake at Åresjön came to life in the summer of 2025. After three concerts, one thing was clear—this was something special, something here to stay. On warm summer evenings, where music met the mountains, a moment was created that truly resonated with the audience.
In summer 2026, the concert series returns to Åresjön. Same place, same lake—framed by the calm presence of Mount Renfjället as the evening light slowly shifts. First to be announced is Eric Gadd together with Blacknuss—two iconic names sharing the same stage in a joint performance. Also confirmed for a summer by the lake is Moonica Mac, Grammy-nominated and widely acclaimed by critics.

Västgård Game Fair, the county’s largest country life and wilderness fair, is held annually in the beautiful Kall region. Here, you’ll meet like-minded and curious people with a shared interest in hunting, shooting, dogs, engines, forestry, food, crafts, and rural living in all its forms.

Classic Kia Fjällmaraton is a full week of running joy and challenges set in a beautiful mountainous environment. Experience this runner’s festival that attracts over 3 500 participants in 10 different races each year. And there’s something for everyone. It’s up to you what and how much you wish to do.

SEPTEMBER 2026
Åre Höstmarknad, 25–27 September
Åre’s famous autumn market is one of the largest events in the county. Over 150 exhibitors and 30 000 visitors create a festival full of autumn ambiance. On top of a strong and full program, there are plenty of other things to do during the autumn market weekend, suitable for large and small visitors.
OCTOBER 2026
Autumn Break in Åre, October 5–November 1
Spending the autumn break in Åre is fun for the whole family, both young and old. It’s a time to slow down and enjoy being together, and we go all out to fill the village with activities and cosy experiences. At the heart of the holiday is the charming Wilderness Camp, where the campfire burns all day long. Here you can try your hand at whittling, learn how to make fire, and relax inside the tipis set up in Åre Park. The camp is alive with activity throughout the period, with an extra-packed programme during week 44 – both at the camp itself and around the Åre Valley.
