Group Travelling to Åre

Your group can travel comfortably and climate-smart by train to Åre. It arrives in the middle of the village and has both night trains and direct day departures from most areas in Sweden. In connection to Åre there are also two international airports; about an hour away is Åre Östersund Airport and about two hours away is Trondheim Airport Værnes in Norway.

Trains

Åre’s train station lies in the middle of the village so you can travel here simply and comfortably by train. It’s also time efficient to take the train – if you choose a day train, you can start your conference while on-route and if you choose a night train, you can sleep well, wake up rested and be ready to kick-off your conference directly after waking up. It is possible to connect to most trains from Arlanda Airport in Stockholm. Three different companies operate trains to Åre; SJ, Snälltåget and Norrtåg.

SJ

SJ has direct day trains from Stockholm as well as night trains from both Stockholm and Gothenburg – every day, year-round. 

Stockholm / Åre – day train

From Stockholm, there are two direct day trains without transfers, every day of the week. One with a departure time in the morning and the other shortly after lunch.

On your way back to Stockholm are two direct day trains without transfers running daily. One with a departure time just before lunch and the other in late afternoon.

Stockholm / Åre – night train

The night train runs every day of the week. From Stockholm, board late evening and wake up in Åre in the morning just as the ski lifts open.

From Åre, the night train departs early evening and arrives in Stockholm before 06.00 the next morning.

Gothenburg / Åre – night train

The night train runs every day of the week. From Gothenburg, board early evening and wake up in Åre in the morning.

From Åre, the train departs early evening and arrives Gothenburg the next morning.

Flights

In connection to Åre there are also two international airports; about an hour away is Åre/Östersund Airport and about two hours away is Trondheim Lufthavn Værnes in Norway.

Pre-book your transfer from the airport with bus from Svenssons i Saxvallen or with either of Åre’s local taxi companies. You can also book a shared airport transfer with bus or taxi car.

Åre Östersund Airport

The airport is Jämtland’s largest and has both national and international flights. It’s located on Frösön, 85 km southeast of Åre, 11 km west of the Östersund city centre. Åre Östersund Airport has direct flights during the winter to / from: Stockholm and Umeå.

Trondheim Lufthavn Værnes

Værnes Airport is Trondheim’s International Airport, located in the smaller town of Stjørdal, 135 km west of Åre. Trondheim Airport Værnes has direct flights to and from: Oslo, Copenhagen, Helsinki, London, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Nice, Tallinn and Riga.
