Stay indoors - 7 x sweet tips

Give yourself a pause from all the outdoor activities and stay indoors for a while – we’ve listed seven sweet things for you to do.

1# Have a “fika”

When in Sweden you have to have a Swedish fika = coffee with something on the side, like a cinnamon bun or chocolate cake. Choose one of Åre’s cozy cafés and enjoy your pause in the company of freshly baked cookies and freshly brewed coffee.

2# Relax at a spa

Check in to one Åre’s spas, get relaxed and energized while focusing on your wellness. Go to the sauna, take a couple of strokes in the swimming pool or take a treatment.

3# Visit an art exhibition

At the library in Åre Central Station the’ve put up a small exhibition on the theme “Åre in pictures” that will take you back to the beginning of the previous century and the tourism days back then. At Konsthuset (the art house) work from both local and other artists with their heart in Åre is on display. And there is always an exhibition going on at the bakery Grädda.

4# Yoga

There are quite a few Yoga studios in Åre. You’ll find some of them here. Most of them offer drop in and private lessons.

5# Visit the chocolate factory

You can find the handmade chocolates from Åre Chokladfabrik all over Sweden. But you can only taste them and explore the entire panoply of their goodies at the factory here in Björnänge.

6# Visit Åre Glass Factory

Get an insight of the art of glassblowing. At Åre Glashytta in the train station in Duved you’ll find glass objects both for everyday use and for display. If you’re lucky they might be working by the furnace when you stop by.

7# Explore the village stores

Small, personal stores mixed with some from the larger chains. The variety of stores in Åre is quite impressive for such a small village. Find clothes, interior decoration, handicraft, toys, souvenirs and tons of sports- and outdoor equipment. All within walking distance.
