Peaceful Activities in Åre
Fast-paced fun is great – but sometimes, you just want to feel the calm. Whether you’re on a break from everyday life or taking a breather in the middle of it, a day (or several) filled with peaceful, soul-soothing activities can do wonders for both body and mind. Find your stillness with a few gentler ways to spend your time in Åre.
Treat Yourself
Take care of yourself – or better yet, let the pros do it. Treat yourself to a day at the spa with a rejuvenating treatment. Let skilled hands work out those tense muscles or give your skin a healthy glow. Got a niggle or a bit of discomfort? Book in with a naprapath and let them sort it out. Spend the whole day in the relaxation area, pool and sauna. You won’t regret a minute.

Åre is home to plenty of talented yogis and a wide range of styles, so chances are high you’ll find just the kind of yoga that suits you.
Soak & Get Wet: Sauna & Swimming
A soak and a sauna – a treat for body and mind, whatever the season. The sauna is a near-mythical concept, and whether its health claims are fact or folklore, one thing’s for sure – it helps you relax. It clears your pores, and quite possibly your thoughts too. Even better when paired with a dip – indoors or out, summer or winter.

Take a stroll
You don’t have to hike for miles in the mountains to enjoy Åre and its surroundings. Sometimes a simple wander is all it takes. There are plenty of charming walking paths in and around the village – perfect for a leisurely stroll with the kids, your partner or the dog. Head down to Åre beach, wander through Tottbyn, and discover a little forest gem near Tott.
Step into the Past
Walking with purpose can be surprisingly rewarding – calm, enjoyable, educational, and truly fascinating. Try the ‘Husesyn’ walk (available in short and long versions) to discover Åre’s historic buildings. Morrvikja’s guided tours bring the local stories and characters to life – a brilliant way to see more of Åre while picking up some surprising insights.
Taste Åre
There’s something luxurious about letting someone else do the cooking – especially when it tastes this good. Explore Åre’s food and drink scene, where local flavours and unique finds are always on the menu.

Åre Old Church
Åre’s Old Church dating from the 12th century is well-worth a visit on any day, and in the summer you can get a guided tour of this historic buildning.
Åre Kabinbana – The Cable Car
This landmark is not just pretty. It’s also the fastest and most scenic way to Mt. Åreskutan’s peak. The view up top is fantastic but what you see on the way up isn’t bad either.
Åre Bergbana – The Funicular
If the cable car is the fastest, the funicular is, without competition, the oldest way of travelling up Mt. Åreskutan. It premiered in 1910 and was the first ski lift in Åre.
Chasing Waterfalls
Tännforsen to the west is Sweden’s largest waterfall while Ristafallet to the east is a mighty, natural amfitheater and a beauty all year round. There are also other wild waters to visit. Tegeforsen is, for example, within walking distance from Åre centre.
Fröå – the Old Mine
Fröå is much more than a mine. The area offers a number of beautiful and relatively easy hiking trails and an outdoor museum to explore. Pause for lunch or coffee at Bergstugan.
