APRIL

Åre Business Forum April 10 – 12

Åre Business Forum is Sweden’s foremost meeting place for business, investments and new contacts, or in other words; The Nordic equivalent of the World Economic Forum in Davos. Skutskjutet April 19 – 20

The theme for this weekend in Åre is speed. The long-standing downhill competition Skutskjutet runs on Saturday, April 20. Then you need to be the fastest down the 1.6 kilometer course that ends in Rödkullen. Skutskjutet is a wonderful folk festival where everyone from 3 years and up can take part in one of the 21 different classes. Fjällmaraton Winter April 20

Have you ever wondered what the Fjällmaraton looks like during the winter months? To celebrate the 20th edition of the main race in 2024, Fjällmaraton offers two new experiences. In the spring of 2024, the Fjällmaraton Winter takes place, an experience race with two distances on packed snow in the classic Fjällmaraton landscape. The course takes you from lake to mountain and opens up a new perspective on the running season. Preliminary course stretches will be two distances, one over the marathon distance of 42K and a gentler one over about 10K. Åre Sessions – April 25 – 28

A festival where music and ski culture meet, framed by one of the country’s most beautiful environments. Åre Sessions premiered in 2017, and has since been part of the big season-ending weekend in Åre. The festival takes place on several stages and venues around Åre – from music stages on the ski slopes to the large arena in the Holiday Club hotel. With previous artists such as The Hives, Veronica Maggio, Hellacopters and Oskar Linnros, the music program is built around the top acts of the Nordic music scene. Just as important as the music is the festival’s activity program, where festival visitors are offered activities such as yoga, ski touring, downhill cycling and ski school. Trilleturen April 27

Take part in a mountain experience with spring touring skiing over the mountains from Trillevallen to Edsåsdalen. Bring your best friends, colleagues, family or come on your own to this event where you will be served mountain pancakes and drinks at Lyckan’s camp and a nice après ski with food at the finish line in Edsåsdalen. Åre Bike Opening June 6 – 9

St Olavsloppet June 26 – 29

Swedish/Norwegian running competition between the cities Östersund in Sweden and Trondheim in Norway, along the scenic pilgrim route St Olavsleden. A real folk festival with a new and beautiful route through the village Kall on the north side of the Åreskutan mountain. St. Olavsloppet >>

Åre Extreme Week June 26 – 30

According to the organizers, Åre Extreme Week, ÅEW, is the ultimate arena for adventure, nature, music and good times where everyone can participate. During this summer week, the program is filled with competitions, workshops, lectures, happenings and events. You choose whether you want to challenge yourself or go in to crush all opposition. Fjällmaraton Öppet Fjäll June 29 – 30

Fjällmaraton Öppet Fjäll with distances of 25 or 43 km is aimed at those who want to experience the mountain marathon trails in a calmer pace, who want to have an experience-rich day on the mountain with good food & drink served along the spectacular trail that ends in the beautiful finish area in Ottsjö. News for 2023 is that a new food partner will be presented, and it seems to be something completely extra that has led to opening up the race for one more day when a large influx of registrations is expected. Åre Bike Festival July 3 – 7

The major biking event of the summer in Åre with activities both to participate in and to be amazed by as an audience. While the snow lies deep over bike paths and pump tracks, the program is growing behind the scenes, so stay tuned. Åre Bike Festival >>

Swedeman Xtreme Triathlon July 6

Swim under Sweden’s largest waterfall, cycle 200 km through the Jämtland wilderness and run up to the finish line at the top of Mt. Åreskutan. Swedeman is part of the Xtreme Triathlon World Tour, so this track is not exactly a walk in the park. Swedeman >>

Västgård Game Fair July 26 – 28

The Fjällmaraton week July 27 – August 3

A whole week filled with different running races in a spectacular mountain environment, from 8 to 100 km. Quarter Marathon, Half Marathon, Mini Marathon, Mountain Marathon and more. Some of the races you can choose yourself which day you want to compete. AUGUST

Åre Outdoor Pride August 16 – 18

An outdoor weekend where you can meet like-minded people and enjoy the freedom of nature and outdoor life. The highlight of the weekend is the Pride Parade on Saturday 17/8. The days are filled with outdoor activities and mountain experiences, unwind with yoga, sauna and swimming and eat well among Åre’s fantastic restaurant selection. Accommodation at the Holiday Club where you have free access to the gym, swimming and sauna world. During the weekend, you can choose between the activities hiking, paddling and cycling, all guided with warmth and without performance or prior knowledge requirements. Come and enjoy the magnificence of the mountains and let nature guide you beyond norms and rules.

Fjällmaraton Natt August 24

To celebrate the 20th edition of the main Fjällmaraton race in 2024 the organizers can proudly present Fjällmaraton Natt, which will be one of two anniversary races in 2024. The night race (starting time 04.00…) will start in darkness at the Nordbottenvägen along Ottsjön, the classic 2km “wall” from Sörbottenvallen up towards Ottfjället, running in the dawn light over the barren landscape up on Ottfjället and over the Ridvadet – wading for 800m in shallow water across lake Ottsjön. Åre Höstmarknad (Autumn Market) September 27 – 29

Åre Höstmarknad is a colourful family event where almost 150 exhibitors and producers together with visitors and villagers make this the Autumn’s big event in Jämtland. Celebrating autumn holidays in Åre is fun for all family members, big and small. Åre Ski Test Weekend December 6 – 8

January may be the beginning of the calendar year, but here in Åre it’s actually the Ski Test Weekend that kicks-off a new year. It’s the weekend that winter lovers look forward to throughout the autumn and which kicks-off the start of the ski season with a bang. EVERYTHING happens this weekend! The lifts start running, suppliers of this year’s winter gear are ready on the slopes, and everything can be tested before Christmas gift shopping. Åre Student Ski Weeks, week 3 – 5

These are the weeks when students can drop their studies for a while and come to Åre to enjoy a few days of great skiing, socializing and activities on the slopes. If your legs start to feel heavy and your stomach rumbles, stop by the Skiers Village on the hill for a nice hangout and lots of competitions.
